So long Turbine and thanks for all the fish!

Welcome to Standing Stone Games.
Standing Stone Games FAQ.

The short story seems to be that the devs and staff of LotRO and DDO have bought themselves out from under WB and created a new company to run/develop both games.

(Whether the staff was part of the buyout or whether someone else bought it out and then hired them is an open question.)

On the forums, most of the devs and staff have already posted to announce their participation in the new company. No obvious losses.

From the FAQ: "Turbine will no longer be involved in the development of LOTRO and DDO. They will continue on the development of their products." No mention of what those products are.

Separately, the demise of Asheron's Call was announced. No player supported servers either.

19.2 adds changes to the Hunter (self-heals for all!) and Warden (looks like bug fixes), new quests, additions to the Flora system, a new tier of Essences, more buffs to Creeps, and bug fixes. Under Misc we find "Game credits have been updated." Goodbye Turbine, Hello Standing Stone Games!

19.1 is again mostly bug fixes, with across-the-board buffs for Creeps.

19.0.1 brings a fair number of assorted bug fixes, but nothing that really jumps out. Unless you were transferring characters; that has been fixed and re-opened.

Update 19: March of the King
by Jerry Pate on Oct 19, 2016, 03:00 PM
Update 19 Release Notes.

Most of the excitement seems to revolve around the new Housing. I do think it's pretty, but way too pricey for my taste.
Volume IV, Book 7 of the Epic story takes up after the Battle of the Pelonnor Fields.
More than 90 quests and deeds are available in the new regions of North Ithilien, The Crossroads, Pelennor Fields (After Battle), and Osgiliath (After Battle).
Burglars and Hunters got a damage boost.
And the ever-popular assorted bug fixes.

18.2.1 Release Notes.
18.2.2 Release Notes.
18.2.3 Release Notes.
18.2.4 Release Notes.
Mostly just bug fixes, but also:
Stable-masters Collection: The Stable-masters collection displays all Stable-masters you have discovered, and helps you find those you have yet to discover! Each Stable-master location provides travel options, available destinations, and a link to the game map. The Stable-master Collection makes getting around Lord of the Rings Online even easier!

New Quests: New quests have become available in After-battle Minas Tirith. Lend your aid to the battle’s aftermath for Defenders of Minas Tirith Reputation (with an expanded reputation barter list). New content will become available every two weeks. Your hero must be level 100, have Kindred Reputation with the faction, and have completed Chapter 8 of Book 6. The post-battle version of Minas Tirith can be reached the Threshold of the City in the Pelennor Battlefield and from pre-battle Minas Tirith.

The Defenders of Minas Tirish Quartermaster now offers Return to, Guide to, and Muster in after-battle Minas Tirith skills for those of Friend standing or above.

Update 18.1 Release Notes
by Jerry Pate on May 16, 2016, 12:40 PM
Looks like Guardians took a small hit and Burglars got a little love.
Update 18.1 Release Notes on the Forums.
From the Release Notes: "The defeat amounts for many of the landscape slayer deeds in Gondor, Rhovanion, and Eriador have been lowered to more reasonable numbers." This affected almost all of my characters. Logging in to find completed deeds, new titles, and Turbine Points was a nice surprise. :)

Update 18 - Welcome to Far Anorien
by Jerry Pate on Apr 15, 2016, 08:10 AM
This latest update brings our first interactions with the Woses (Pukel-men), Books 5 and 6 of the Epic storyline, 2 new regions, 3 new instances, an increase in the level cap to 105, and some behind the scenes changes to Avoidance, Mastery, and Mitigation. There is also continuing work on the lags/disconnects, especially in PvMP areas. I think my favorite change is the addition of Task Boards to the Housing Neighborhoods. These provide access to every task, with 8 boards broken out by levels.
